The Animal Services Unit of the Chesterfield County Police Department handles a variety of issues as they relate to domesticated animals in the county.
- Call the police non-emergency number at 804-748-1251 to report:
- dogs running at large,
- animal neglect or cruelty,
- sick or injured animals,
- stray dogs,
- animal bites,
- non-emergency Animal Control issues.
The Emergency Communications Center answers this number 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
To speak with a shelter representative, call 804-748-1683 Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
General email inquiries to: animal control email. Note: This email address is not monitored on a 24-hour basis and is not a venue for making reports of abuse, neglect, dogs running at large or barking dogs. Such incidents should be directed to the non-emergency number and an officer will respond.
